In the hours before Election Day, as inevitable as winter, comes an onslaught of dirty tricks - confusing e-mails, disturbing phone calls and insinuating fliers left on doorsteps during the night.
Republican presidential candidate John McCain seized on reports of record oil company profits Thursday to criticize Democratic rival Barack Obama for favoring tax breaks for the oil industry.
Bill O'Reilly has re-upped with Fox News Channel in a multiyear deal that pays him about $10 million a year to host his top-rated news program, "The O'Reilly Factor."
Something new please.

The LDS Church, which is often associated politically with the Christian Right, has an official statement read before each election that the Church takes no position regarding candidates or political parties. Members are always encouraged to vote, and to vote thoughtfully. We read that official letter last week in our congregation.
3 weeks ago, I listened to two older brother, sharing inaccurate and negative opinions with each other about Senator Obama, just before a meeting. As Bishop, I gently asked, "Brethren, is this the time or the place?" I then moved on to other matters and nothing more was said.
The LDS Church does occasionally take official positions and support moral issues that are very important. By the way, I am proudly a life-long Democrat, who will incidentally be voting for McCain. I would never never use my office to support one candidate or party over an other.
